Anthony Nicolas Proto Sr., 92 passed away on November 13, 2011 in his home in Pompano Beach, Florida where he lived for 20 years.
Nick was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 26, 1919 to Nicholas and Teresa Proto.
Nick was a decorated veteran of the U.S Army from 1941 to 1945 and U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1963, serving his country in WWII and the Korean War. Among other recognitions, Nick was awarded the American Defense Ribbon 1 Star, American Theater Ribbon European, North African, Middle Eastern Ribbon 2...

Anthony Nicolas Proto Sr., 92 passed away on November 13, 2011 in his home in Pompano Beach, Florida where he lived for 20 years.
Nick was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 26, 1919 to Nicholas and Teresa Proto.
Nick was a decorated veteran of the U.S Army from 1941 to 1945 and U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1963, serving his country in WWII and the Korean War. Among other recognitions, Nick was awarded the American Defense Ribbon 1 Star, American Theater Ribbon European, North African, Middle Eastern Ribbon 2 Stars, Bronze Star and World War II Victory Ribbon. Nick was a prisoner of war and aided in the escape of other POW's. After serving his country for over 20 years, he retired and went to work for the United States Postal Service in 1963 where he retired after 20 years of service.
Nick was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose, NRA and received the Royal Order of the "Blue Nose".
Until his death, Nick enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, cooking, gardening, photography, computer technology, music and supporting national and international charity organizations where he gave generously.
Nick was preceded in death by wives Medeline Proto and Mary Proto; one daughter Theresa Proto; one brother John; five sisters Sue, Helen, Caroline, Mae and Vera.
Nick is survived by his wife Mildred Proto of Pompano beach, FL; two sons Anthony Nicolas Proto, Jr. (Peggy) of Gainesville, FL; Nick Proto (Barbara) of Margate, FL; two grandchildren Julee (Justin) Barrett of Salt lake City, Utah and Joseph Proto of Palm Harbor, FL.
